The case of the missing amendments

There is growing consternation over the release on bail of Michel Samaha by the Lebanese Military Court of Cassation. Minister of Social Affairs Rachid Derbas has noted that a committee headed by former Justice Minister Chakib Cortbaoui created a committee to come up with changes to the military law, but the committee failed and no amendments ever reached Parliament. M. Derbas colorfully suggested that the military court should take M. Samaha's place behind bars, and expressed the fear that Lebanon was turning into a minefield.
