Canada's Minister of Defence "attacked on two fronts on prosecutorial independence"

In the wake of the CMAC's decision in R v. Gagnon which declared as invalid section 230.1 of the National Defence Act, LAWYERS' WEEKLY - January 22, 2016 published a front-page story on the call for the reform of the Military Justice System. Section 230.1 grants the Minister of National Defence the right, inter alia, to appeal to the CMAC from a court martial the legality of any finding of not guilty.  The article reports that Gagnon will likely spark a a broad rethink and reform of the military justice system. Let's hope so.
