Disciplinary action in Singapore

A healthy debate is going on in Singapore about the legal fallout of the death of a member of the Singapore Armed Forces. There have been concerns that responsible personnel have not been sufficiently punished, but the SAF points to past cases as evidence that it is perfectly willing to punish those who abuse draftees or commit other serious offenses. Four commando officers were jailed in 2004 for causing the death of another serviceman who was put through unauthorised dunking sessions during combat survival training. More recently, a senior instructor was jailed for instigating an NSF to commit a rash act and trying to pervert the course of justice after an overturned jeep resulted in the death of another NSF.
